- Longman Academic Writing Series 4 (5th edition) by Lida Baker
- Binder or folder, pen, pencil, lined paper - Bring to every class!!
- If you come to class without your books and materials (pencil, paper), you may be marked tardy for being unprepared for class.
- Buy textbooks at the UCI bookstore, new or used.

Passing How you will be graded:
A+= 98 -100% Not passing Reading 35%
A = 93 - 97% C- = 70 – 72% Reading Final Exam 10%
A- = 90 - 92% D+= 68 – 69% Writing 35%
B+= 88 - 89% D = 63 - 67% Writing Final Paper 10%
B = 83 - 87% D- = 60 – 62% Homework & Active Participation 10%
B- = 80 - 82% F = 59% and below --------------------
C+= 78 - 79% Total 100%
C = 73 - 77%
Passing How you will be graded:

How do I calculate my grade?
# correct points / # total points = 0. X X = X X %
For example, if you get a 23/30 on a quiz (-7 points):
23 / 30 = 0.766 = 77% = C

Check your grades anytime on Engrade.com
- I will give you a username and password in Week 2.
- On Engrade.com, you will see 3 sections:
- RW6 - Reading Only
- RW6 - Writing Only
- RW6 - Combined Grade
Remember:
- You will not pass the class if your reading OR writing grade is below 73%.
- I cannot change your grade.
- If you miss a quiz or exam, you get a zero. There is no make-up.
- Check your grades regularly throughout the quarter.
- Come to my office hours if you have questions or are confused.

A. Enter in Class ID Number 8908902
B. Class Enrollment Password: greatstudent
C. Put in your user information and email address
3. Once you've registered, you will be on our class page: "Reading/Writing 6 - Maling Lew"
4. Find the assignment, click on the link.
5. Submit your paper using the "Submit" button (browse > upload > submit). Use Microsoft Word documents only.
6. Click “Go to Portfolio” to check your originality percentage
7. Use the “Show details” button to see the percent of your report that is similar to other sources
